Hymnal: A Collection of Psalms and Hymns for Publick Worship #XCI (1789) Lyrics: 1 Happy the souls who trust in God;
They find a most secure abode;
They walk all day beneath his shade,
And there at night they rest their head.
2 If burning beams of noon conspire
To dart a pestilential fire,
God is their life, his wings are spread
To shield them with a healthful shade.
3 If vapours, with malignant breath
Rise thick, and scatter midnight death,
The saints safe; the poison'd air
Grows pure; for God himself is there.
