1858 - 1927 Hymnal Number: 64 Author of "He Calleth for Thee" in Golden Grain Ada Jane Blenkhorn Canada 1858-1927 Born in Cobourg, Ontario, the 10th of 11 children, she emigrated with her family to the U.S. In 1884 and settled in Cleveland, OH.. She was raised a Methodist, and began writing hymn lyrics at age 34. A prolific writer of hymn lyrics, she was about to give it up when a friend encouraged her to continue, telling her some soul might be saved by a hymn she would write. She worked for many years as secretary to her brother, Henry's, real estate company. After his death in 1923, she became president of the company. She never married.

Born: April 18, 1823, Pompey Hollow, Onondaga County, New York.
Died: 1915, Binghamton, New York.
Buried: Oran Community Church Cemetery, Pompey, Onondaga County, New York.
Daughter of Eleazer Rice, Jones lived in Onondaga County, New York. Her girlhood was spent on a farm, receiving what education the country schools and one term at high school could provide. She was always fond of reading, and was a great singer, with a clear ringing voice. On July 7, 1844, she married a son of Rev. Zenas Jones; her husband died in 1879. Her song writing career began when her poetry came to the attention of Dr. M. J. Munger, who asked if she could write some Sunday school hymns for him. She went on to write for Daniel Towner, J. C. Ewing, the Fillmore brothers, and others.

Died: March 10, 1887, Chicago, Illinois.
Buried: Carthage, Missouri.
Fannie’s father was killed when she was 10 years old; after her mother’s remarriage to hotelier Henry Warner, the family moved to Carthage, Missouri. Fannie married court reporter Asa Lee Davison and they moved to Chicago, Illinois, then Madison, Wisconsin. Several of her songs appeared in publications from the Fillmore Brothers of Cincinnati, Ohio, including Songs of Gratitude (1877), Joy and Gladness (1880) and The Voice of Joy (1882).

1812 - 1884 Hymnal Number: 170 Author of "There Is Life in a Look" in Golden Grain Hull, Amelia Matilda, daughter of William Thomas Hull, was born at Marpool Hall, Exmouth, circa 1825. Her publications include:—
(1) Hymns by A. M. H., South Petherton, n.d. [1850]; (2) Heart Melodies, 1864; (3) The Silver Trumpet Answered; (4) Fruit from, the Tree of Life; (5) A Hymn-Book for Children; (6) Royal Musings concerning the King and His Work, n.d. [1884].
Miss Hull also contributed 22 hymns to Miss H. W. Soltau's Pleasant Hymns for Boys and Girls, n.d. [I860], From this collection her two popular hymns are taken:—
1. And is it true as I am told. The Good Shepherd.
2. There is life for a look at the Crucified One. Life in Christ.

1838 - 1914 Person Name: Rev. H. G. Jackson Hymnal Number: 67 Author of "We're On the Way to Canaan's Land" in Golden Grain Born: January 1, 1838, Manchester, Indiana.
Died: November 12, 1914.
A Methodist minister, Jackson and his wife Alice spent many years as missionaries in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Upon their return to America, they lived in the River Forest/Oak Park area of Chicago, Illinois.
