Elwin, John Fountain, F.R.C.S., son of Col. Fountain Elwin, was born in Sicily, June 8, 1809; was Medical Superintendent of the British Medical Mission from 1872 to 1885; and died Nov. 17, 1890. A few of his hymns are in the Enlarged London Hymn Book, 1873, including "Peace, what a precious sound" (Peace with God).
