Wilkin B. Bacon was born on April 27, 1908, Talihina, Oklahoma of Choctaw Indian heritage. He is sometimes confused with Osage Chief Bacon Rind. Wilkin was baptized in 1937 at Sherman, Texas, by Burton Coffman. He sang baritone in the Lone Star Quartet, a Gospel group that performed on radio station KWFT in Wichita Falls, Texas, and later on station WPTF in Raleigh, North Carolina. By 1945, Bacon had moved into ministry, preaching in Arlington, Texas; Fort Smith, Arkansas; Corsicana and Dallas, Texas; and Duncan and Talihina, Oklahoma. He died on October 9, 1981, Talihina, Oklahoma.
