Text: | The Children of the King |
Author: | Ida L. Reed |
Tune: | [Children of the King are we] |
Composer: | Maurice A. Clifton |
1 Children of the King are we,
And as such we must be true;
Ever willing, earnest, free,
All our Father’s work to do.
At his will we each must go
Forth to labor till the night
Falls o’er hill and valley low,
And sunbeams bright.
Refrain:
Happy children of the King are we,
Daily in his service blest are we;
Gladly we his praises ever sing,
Children of the King.
2 Many duties wait our hands,
We must daily, hourly see;
Pressing needs throughout all lands,
And we cannot idle be.
All around us, ev’rywhere,
There are souls that we must aid;
Hearts o’erladen, bowed with care,
By grief dismayed. [Refrain]
3 We the lost must seek, in love,
Straying ‘mid the paths of sin;
To our Father’s courts above
Strive to bring all wand’rers in.
Then will he our service bless,
Kindly will our welcome be;
Thro’ the gates of righteousness
His glories see. [Refrain]
