1 O could we but love that Savior,
who loves us so ardently,
as we ought, our souls would ever
full of joy and comfort be;
if we, by his love incited,
could ourselves and all forget,
then, with Jesus Christ united,
we should heav'n anticipate.

2 O that Jesus’ love and merit
filled our hearts both night and day!
May the leading of His Spirit
all our thoughts and actions sway!
Then should we be ever ready
cheerfully to testify
how our spirit, soul and body
do in God our Savior joy.
