Tune: | NUN SICH DER TAG GEENDET HAT |
Composer: | Adam Philipp Krieger, 1634-1666 |
1 Once more a day is at its close,
Its joys and sorrow spent;
Another night with sweet repose
Unto the earth is sent.
2 In Thee, O Lord, my trust I place,
No change can Thee befall;
My days and nights, in Thy rich grace,
By Thee are numbered all.
3 Safe to Thy care committing me,
When down the sun is gone,
I'll gladly wake to worship Thee
When day again shall dawn.
4 If death should summon me this night,
O Jesus, be Thou nigh;
Give me the comfort by thy might
That thine I live and die!
