Text: | Jesus, with Thy Church Abide |
Author: | Thomas B. Pollock, 1836-1896 |
Tune: | LIGHT |
1 Jesus, with Thy Church abide,
Be her Savior, Lord and Guide,
While on earth her faith is tried.
2 Keep her life and doctrine pure;
Help her, patient to endure,
Trusting in Thy promise sure.
3 All her fettered powers release;
Bid all strife and envy cease;
Grant the heavenly gift of peace.
4 May she one in doctrine be,
One in truth and charity,
Winning all to faith in Thee.
5 May she guide the poor and blind,
Seek the lost until she find,
And the broken-hearted bind.
6 Save her love from growing cold;
Maker her watchmen strong and bold;
Fence her round, Thy peaceful fold.
7 May the grace of Him Who died
And the Father’s love abide
And the Spirit ever guide.
