10. On Jordan's Bank the Baptist's Cry

1. On Jordan's bank the Baptist's cry
Announces now the Lord is nigh.
Come, then, and harken, for he brings
Glad tidings from the King of kings.

2. E'en now the air, the sea, the land
Feel sure their Maker is at hand.
The very elements rejoice
And welcome him with cheerful voice.

3. Then cleansed be every heart from sin;
Make straight the way for God within;
Yes, let us each our hearts prepare
For Christ to come and enter there.

4. For you are my salvation, Lord,
My refuge and my great reward;
Without your grace my soul must fade
And wither like a flow’r decayed.

5. To heal the sick, stretch out your hand
And bid the fallen sinner stand;
Once more upon your people shine,
And fill the world with love divine.

6. To you, who left the throne of Heav’n
To save mankind, all praise be giv’n.
Like praise be to the Father done,
And Holy Spirit, Three in One.
