152. Oh, Let Thy Spirit With Us Tarry

1 Oh, let Thy spirit with us tarry,
Lord Jesus, this we ask of Thee.
These little ones to Thee we carry:
Baptize them that Thine own they be.

2 We name them after Thee, though humble:
Oh,let them in Thy name arise;
Nor let them fall if they should stumble,
But run their course and gain the prize.

3 If long the course, O Lord, uphold them,
Thy hoary servant bear in mind;
If short, oh, may Thy love enfold them,
That in Thine arms they rest may find.

4 Deep in their hearts thy name be planted,
And write their name in Thy right hand,
That they in weal and woe be granted
Thy Spirit, all to understand.

5 The angels sing when babes are sleeping;
May still they sing when death draws near.
Both cross and crown are in Thy keeping;
Lead Thou us on, we have no fear.
