Text: | The Sinless Land |
Author: | Rev. Johnson Oatman, Jr. |
Tune: | [Looking past the stars at night] |
Composer: | G. W. Elderkin |
1 Looking past the stars at night,
As like sentinels they stand,
Oft by faith I catch the light
Of that blessed, sinless land.
Refrain:
Sinless land of purity,
Over on the golden strand,
I shall yet thy beauty see,
Sinless land, O sinless land.
2 Just beyond the jasper walls,
Past the pearly gates so grand,
Where the light forever falls,
Is God’s home, the sinless land. [Refrain]
3 Many friends by faith I see
Gathered there, a happy band,
Waving palms of victory;
They have reached the sinless land. [Refrain]
4 Cleanse me, Lord, and make me free;
Pure in heart I then shall stand,
Meet at last to dwell with thee
In thy home, the sinless land. [Refrain]
