73. My Saviour’s Bible

1 My Saviour’s Bible shall be mine!
That Book whereon He set his seal;
Its pages shine with heav’nly light,
And God’s own Will to me reveal.

Refrain:
O Sacred Book! Great gift of God!
Its rays of Truth with splendor shine;
I’ll store its gems in mind and heart;
My Saviour’s Bible shall e’er be mine!

2 The Law, the Prophets, and the Psalms—
No higher Truth to Christ could be;
His guide, His comfort, and His strength—
What spoke to Him shall speak to me. [Refrain]

3 But fuller Truth through Him has come,
And brighter light, and sweeter beams;
From Calv’ry’s cross Love’s voice is heard,
And, from its darkness, glory streams. [Refrain]

4 With joy I learn His wondrous Truth,
In Gospels and Epistles writ;
And in His death that slew my sin,
My heart in love to Him is knit. [Refrain]

5 The Way, the Truth, the Life is He—
The Son of Man, yet Lord Divine;
To Him I now my will submit,
And make His treasured Bible mine. [Refrain]
