CCCXXXIX. The Lord be prais'd the storm is past!

1 The Lord be prais'd the storm is past!
That fearful and alarming blast:
That cloud of horror, black as night,
Is fled, and we enjoy the light.

2 A welcome change, for just before
We heard the fearful thunder roar;
Despair beset us all around,
To hear and feel that awful sound.

3 The Lord was pleas'd to hear our cry,
And let his judgments pass us by;
He look'd on us in our distress,
And caus'd our dreads and fears to cease.

4 We join to sing our Saviour's praise!
Who has preserv'd us all our days:
In ev'ry dark and trying hour,
He guards against the tempter's pow'r.
