Duplicated hymn entries in hymnals

You are here

I've come across a couple hymnals that have ended up with extraneous/duplicate hymn entries during processing. For example, Melodies of Zion has five (see the end of the list). How should these be removed?

Select the duplicate hymn and then Delete the Instance.

I am trying to calculate the popularity in the usage of hymns from the graphs, but Text and Tunes graphs give different percentages. Is one more accurate? Can these be combined? I note that a different number of hymnals are given for each.

A text percentage is calculated by counting the number of hymnals a text appears in by the number of hymmals with text instances published in a given year (so hymnals without text instances published in that year are not counted). A tune percentage is calculated by counting the number of hymnals a tune appears in by the number of hymnals with tune instances published in a given year. So hymnals without tune instances are not counted. That is what makes the difference.

It could be many of the hymnals at that time were text only, or it could be that no one has completed editing the hymnal (we added a lot of hymnals indexed for the Dictionary of North American Hymnology (DNAH) which only had the texts indexed).
