D.A.R. Aufranc was a physician and dentist in London. He was a third generation Adventist. His grandfather, a professor of languages and translator, was one of the first European converts to the church, due to the efforts of J. N. Andrews in Switzerland. He became a well-known physician and served as an advisor for the Good Health Association, a group of Adventist medical institutions in Great Britain. Additionally, at the time of the coronation of King George VI in 1937, an article by Aufranc, "Fighting against Death," was one of eleven featured in a church commemorative magazine published in Britain titled This Century of Wonders.
