John Palmer "Ripples" Reese was born in Jasper County, Georgia. After service in the Civil War as a member of the 37th Georgia Infantry, he spent most of his life as a composer and singing instructor in the Sacred Harp movement. He was a revisor for the 1859 edition of The Sacred Harp. He was president of the Chattahoochee Convention. Reese died in 1900, in Newnan, Georgia. Antonio Higgins Go to person page >
