Norman L. Warren (PHH 15) composed LISTENING in 1969 for another paraphrase of Psalm 61, a text, writes Warren, "which demanded a gentle tune." It was published in Psalm Praise (1973). Its two long lines flow together in apparent perpetual motion - they should be performed that way, too, with no significant breaks between stanzas. A final ritard is appropriate for the alternate ending on stanza 7.
