أنصِتْ لصوتٍ خشعا
وعُمَّنا منَ السما
بالبركات أجمعا

2 - ها نحن نرجو وعدَ من
ينيلُنا ما نطلبُ
فانعِم لنا يا ربَّنا
بروح قدسٍ يُسكبُ

3 - إن كان يُصغي والدٌ
إلى بنيه مُقبلا
وكان بالحب الوفي
يُعطي بنيه منزلا

4 - فكم إلهي بالحري
يحب حباً صادقا
ويستجيبُ عبدَه
إذا دعاه واثقا

5 - يا أبتاه في السما
إسمع بنيكَ واقبلِ
وليحضُرِ الروحُ هنا
حتى المكان يمتلي

6 - فتُضرَمُ القلوبُ من
حبٍّ سماويٍّ وَقَدْ

Burton, John, jun, a popular hymn-writer for children, was b. July 23, 1803, at Stratford in Essex, in which place he carried on business as a cooper for about 50 years. He died in 1877. Mr. Burton was a member of the Congregational body, and a Deacon of the Chapel where he attended, His contributions to hymnody began in 1822, when he sent his first production to the Evangelical Magazine. He continued to contribute to that and other periodicals for many years, his signature in the former being "Essex, J. B.," and in the Child's Companion, J. B. Essex." Nasif al-Yaziji (March 25, 1800 – February 8, 1871) was a Lebanese author at the times of the Ottoman Empire and father of Ibrahim al-Yaziji. He was one of the leading figures in the Nahda movement.
