Representative Text

1 When our feet have reached the summit of the weary hills of earth,
And the morning light is breaking o’er the sea;
Then our hearts shall know no sadness when the mists shall clear away,
And the pearly gates unfold for you and me.

Refrain:
There are hearts shall know no sadness, by and by,
But love, joy and gladness, there on high;
We shall know no care nor sorrow,
On that resurrection day,
When the pearly gates unfold for you and me.

2 Just beyond the river Jordan are sweet fields of living green,
And the fair, immortal flowers we shall see;
While life’s river floweth ever by the great, white throne of God,
When the pearly gates unfold for you and me. [Refrain]

3 Thro’ the valley of the shadow we may journey undismayed,
If we trust His “Fear not, I will be with thee;”
Tho’ we pass amid the waters we shall by His strength be stayed,
‘Till the pearly gates unfold for you and me. [Refrain]
