Safe in His Love

When heavy my burden, and life seemeth drear

Author: James Rowe
Tune: [When heavy my burden, and life seemeth drear]
Published in 3 hymnals

Representative Text

1 When heavy my burden, and life seemeth drear,
When thorns are before me and storm-clouds above,
What comfort it gives me, what courage and cheer,
To know I am safe in his wonderful love.

Refrain:
Safe in his love, his wonderful love;
Guarded each day by my Saviour above;
I’ve nothing to fear while journeying here;
I’m safe in his love, his wonderful love.

2 When waters of sorrow sweep over my soul,
When striveth the tempter my faith to remove,
O then how it helps me my heart to control,
To know I am safe in his wonderful love. [Refrain]

3 Completely to Jesus myself I resign,
And nothing shall cause me unfaithful to prove;
I’ll follow my Saviour thro’ shadow or shine,
Assured that I’m safe in his wonderful love. [Refrain]
