Representative Text

1 When blinded are the eyes of faith
To God’s mysterious ways,
There’s light if we but backwards look
To behold the former days.

Refrain:
Remember the former days saith God
Remember the former days,
“For I am God, I am true to my word,”
Remember the former days.

2 Dry-shod God’s people crossed the sea
He fed them in the world,
His enemies in terror fled,
In the distant days of old. [Refrain]

3 When all the fields were brown and bare
And hearts of men in pain,
The windows of the skies God oped,
And sent refreshing rain. [Refrain]

4 The sons of righteousness he blest
And raised them upon on high,
And when they thought themselves forgot,
They found God’s presence nigh. [Refrain]

5 Our God is evermore the same
The same in love and pow’r,
And what he did in times of old
He will do this very hour. [Refrain]
