Representative Text

1 We’ve a Friend who watches o’er us,
One who loves us, each and all,
One who knows the tasks before us,
And who answers when we call.

Refrain:
Jesus is our great Defender,
He is loving, kind and tender,
So to him our praise we render,—
Jesus is the children’s Friend.

2 What a Friend the children found him,
Long ago in Galilee,
When he called them all around him,
Saying, “Let them come to me.” [Refrain]

3 Still he calls the children near him,
Just as on that far-off day;
Still he bids them come and hear him,
Learn to walk his holy way. [Refrain]
