Gathering 'Round the Banner

We are gathering round the banner

Author: Mrs. R. N. Turner
Tune: [We are gathering round the banner]
Published in 1 hymnal

Audio files: MIDI

Representative Text

1 We are gath’ring ’round the banner
Which in beauty waves on high,
For we love the holy standard
Of the Lord who rules the sky.

Refrain:
Singing, singing loud the song of triumph!
For the Lord of Hosts is King,
And through all the earth and heaven
Shall his holy praises ring.

2 We shall fight the battle bravely,
Though the conflict rages long,
For our Bulwark is almighty,
Our Defender sure and strong. [Refrain]

3 He who bears the name of Jesus,
Tramples down his fiercest foe!
He who fights behind his standard,
Unto victory shall go! [Refrain]

4 Then with glowing hope within us,
And unchanging faith and love;
We will onward march together,
While our banner waves above. [Refrain]
