1. Trusting Jesus, wonderful guide,
In His keeping safely abide;
Joys eternal He will impart;
Get God’s sunshine into your heart.

Refrain
Get God’s sunshine into your heart,
Get God’s sunshine into your heart,
It will cheer you all the day,
Drive the gloom of life away,
If you get God’s sunshine into your heart.

2. Wondrous promise He will fulfill,
Gladly doing His holy will;
Peace unending He will impart,
Get God’s sunshine into your heart.[Refrain]

3. Friend of sinners, ever the same,
Willing Savior, praise His dear name,
Full forgiveness He will impart,
Get God’s sunshine into your heart. [Refrain]

After attending a revival meeting by Reuben Torrey and Charles M. Alexander, Harkness became Alexander’s pianist. He came to Christ shortly thereafter (on a bicycle, he said), and made several round the world tours with Torrey and Alexander. Harkness was especially well known for his program The Music of the Cross, and as the author of correspondence courses in hymn playing. He wrote over 2,000 hymns and Gospel songs in his lifetime.
