Representative Text

1 Thro’ the gates to the city,
Into endless day,
Where all tears and all sorrow
Shall be wiped away;
Where the life-giving waters
Shall forever flow
And the leaves of God’s healing
Shall forever blow.

Refrain:
Thro’ the gates, thro’ the gates,
Thro’ the gates to the city they shall enter in;
Thro’ the gates, thro’ the gates,
Thro’ the gates to the city bright and fair.

2 Thro’ the gates to the city
See the hosts move on,
Passing in to the mansions
For the triumph won;
There a welcome is waiting
By the risen Son;
There reward shall be given
For the work well done. [Refrain]

3 Thro’ the gates to the city
Of eternal fame,
By the throne of the Father,
There to praise his name.
O the rapture of living
In an endless day
Where all sorrow and sighing
Shall have passed away. [Refrain]

4 Thro’ the gates to the city;
O the bliss untold,
When with songs of rejoicing
Will the gates unfold
And the saved of all ages
Will be gathered home,
Singing songs of redemption
Round the great white throne. [Refrain]
