Representative Text

1 There’s Someone who helps me when friends pass by,
And the sun has forgotten to shine;
There’s Someone whose strong arms are ever night,
‘Tis this wonderful Savior of mine.

Refrain:
He heals ev’ry heartache,
He hears ev’ry sigh,
This wonderful Savior of mine;
He helps me in trouble,
He heeds when I cry,
This wonderful Savior of mine.

2 In sorrow and sunshine, thro’ all the way,
He shares every heart-beat of time;
He smooths out the pathway from day to day,
Does this wonderful Saviour of mine. [Refrain]

3 When darkness surrounds me and light is gone,
And the world in its beauty grows dim,
When sadness has taken away my song,
Then I carry my burdens to Him. [Refrain]

Little is known about Albert Allen Ketchum, except that he was once a student at Moody Bible Institute, in Chicago, and lived at one time in Long Beach, California. While attending Moody in the early 1920′s, he wrote the words and music for a gospel song called, "Why Do I Sing About Jesus?" It was one of 12 or 15 songs he submitted to Harry Dixon Clarke for publication. --wordwisehymns.com/2010/02/12/… Go to person page >
