1 There’s a word of cheer and kindness,
You may speak perchance today;
Burdened hearts ‘twill help to brighten,
Bringing joy along the way;
For the world has need of sunshine,
Need of friendship strong and true;
There’s a word of cheer and kindness,
None can speak that word but you;

It will help another on;
Giving courage for a conquest,
That a vict’ry may be won;
Bringing hlpe to one discourages,
Failing strength it may renew;

3 There’s a deed of loving service,
That will bless another’s life;
Bringing sunshine ‘mid the shadows,
Bringing courage for the strife;
Do not pause, for hours are flying,
And the days are all too few;
