Representative Text

1 There’s a sound within the land,
It is heard on ev’ry hand,
It is rising stronger, louder in its might;
Souls that now in darkness stray,
Waiting, longing for the day,
They are calling, they are pleading for the light.

Refrain:
Hark! the cry is ever sounding, louder, stronger in its might,
We will answer to the call, tell the blessed truth to all,
Till o’er all the earth, shall shine the gospel light.

2 Shall we heed their earnest cry?
Shall we not to them reply?
We must never let them call to us in vain,
‘Twas for them the Savior died,
For their sins was crucified,
To redeem their souls the Lord of life was slain. [Refrain]

3 Let us then who know the Lord,
Spread abroad His precious word,
To this end our time, and strength and means employ,
Till on ev’ry land and sea,
Dawns the day of liberty,
And the hearts enslaved by sin shall shout for joy. [Refrain]
