Songs in the Night

George R Graves USA. George became a missionary for the American Sunday School Union in northern WI during the depression days of the 1930s. He was instrumentl in starting the Riverside Bible Camp (later Conference) near Amherst, WI, in 1933. The interdenominational Christian camp has since expanded and grown to over 4000 children and young adult attendees annually. He wrote verses for the song noted below after reading Job 35:10 and meditating on the phrase 'songs in the night'. A short time later he used the poem at a funeral preached for one of his Sunday School superintendents. People wanted copies of the poem, so he had some printed, and later Wendell P Loveless saw the poem and composed music for it. John Perry  Go to person page >
