Garrett, Charles, was born at Shaftesbury, 1823, entered the Wesleyan Ministry in 1849, President of the Conference in 1882, and died in 1900. His hymn, "There is a glorious work" (Temperance), is No. 959 in The Methodist Hymn Book, 1904.
