Go Into the Highways

The table of the King is spread

Author: William C. Martin
Tune: [The table of the King is spread]
Published in 2 hymnals

Audio files: MIDI

Representative Text

1 The table of the King is spread
With holy wine and living bread;
The door is open unto all,
And lovingly he sounds his call.

Chorus:
Go into the highways, invite in Jesus’ name;
Seek under the hedges the poor, the blind, the lame.
Song and joy await them at Jesus’ banquet hall,—
Go into the highways and sweetly bid them all.

2 The sweetest joy a heart may know
Is found where living waters flow;
And pleasures that can never die
The gracious King will there supply. [Chorus]

3 Let love alone, in accents sweet,
The King’s most gracious call repeat,
And those who know the living way
Conduct the guests without delay. [Chorus]
