Representative Text

1 The precious book is fill’d with gems,
Which ease my troubled mind,
And treasures there so beautiful,
In searching I may find;
And when so dark, I cannot see,
The path my feet should tread,
I trust the Word, the light breaks forth,
And shines around my head.

Refrain:
I’ll trust in the wonderful word,
I’ll prize more this letter of love,
The book of salvation for every nation,
God’s wonderful gift from above.

2 If rich or great it bids me bless
The needy on my way,
If poor, it tells me look to Him,
Who answers while I pray;
In darkest hours He bids me come,
And cast on Him my care,
And He will take away the cross,
That seems so hard to bear. [Refrain]

3 The bread of heav’n is offer’d me,
Which I may eat and live,
The fount of life to quench my thirst,
Which God alone can give;
The new life which I must possess
If I the crown would win,
And grace I need for ev’ry hour,
To keep me free from sin. [Refrain]

4 I am the Way, the Truth, the Life,
Come unto me and live,
‘Tis Jesus speaks to ev’ry man,
And will salvation give;
No need to miss the narrow path,
E’en in this world of strife,
We’re bound to win, our stay shall be,
The blessed Word of Life. [Refrain]
