Robert J. Moore was born in Phoenix in 1952, and received his education at Arizona State University (B.A. 1973; M.S.W. 1992) and San Francisco Theological Seminary (M.Div. 1977). He is an ordained Presbyterian minister and served as associate pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Sacramento, California (1978-1980), First Presbyterian Church, Roswell, New Mexico (1980-1982), and Christ Presbyterian Church, Tucson, Arizona (1983-1990), before returning to graduate school.
