Zion Lives!

The kingdom of our mighty Lord

Author: William C. Martin
Tune: [The kingdom of our mighty Lord]
Published in 1 hymnal

Audio files: MIDI

Representative Text

1 The kingdom of our mighty Lord
On Christ the Rock is founded,
Defended with a mighty sword,
By walls of grace surrounded.

Chorus:
And Zion lives,
Her foes go down before her;
O Zion lives,
And God is reigning o’er her.

2 The church is precious in his sight,
He makes it still his dwelling;
‘Tis radiant with a holy light,
All earthly light excelling. [Chorus]

3 No more shall foes her walls invade,
No more her ranks be broken,
No more shall Zion be betrayed
For God hath clearly spoken. [Chorus]

4 The people of the Lord are blest,
They have a kingdom glorious;
Within its walls the saints may rest
Beneath a flag victorious. [Chorus]
