Take Thou my life, dear Lord

Representative Text

1 Take Thou my life, dear Lord,
And make it wholly Thine;
Direct each tho't and deed and word
By wisdom all divine.

2 Thy grace and love alone
Can make me pure within;
On bitter cross Thou didst atone
For all my guilt and sin.

3 Take Thou my heart's desires
And bend them to Thine own;
Quench all my evil passion's fires
And rule my heart alone.

4 Guide ev'ry tho't and word,
And help my speech to frame,
That all my lips shall utter, Lord,
May glorify Thy name.

5 Take Thou my every deed
And mold it to Thy will;
Help me a holy life to lead,
Thy grace in me fulfill.

6 And when my life is o'er,
Then take me, Lord, to Thee,
That I in glory evermore
Thy child and heir may be.

Amen.
