Representative Text

1 Sing out in glad carols, be happy today,
Our Father is leading, there’s light on the way;
If clouds hide the sunbeams yield not to despair,
March on with rejoicing, there’s sunshine somewhere.

Chorus:
Sunshine somewhere, sunshine somewhere,
Sing in glad carols, yield not to despair;
Sunshine somewhere, sunshine somewhere,
Thank God and take courage, there’s sunshine somewhere.

2 The days may be dreary, and shadows may fall,
God’s love, never failing, is planning it all.
Then trust in his wisdom, and rest on his pow’r,
Bright rainbows of beauty will span ev’ry show’r. [Chorus]

3 Sing out in glad carols, his wonders repeat,
In true adoration bow down at his feet;
For blessings he sends us break forth into song,
To God the Creator our praises belong. [Chorus]

Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns.
