Resurrection Hymn

Representative Text

1. Sing, all ye angels in glory,
Shout, ye his saints the blest story;
Fill the whole earth with this joyful refrain,
With rapture repeat it again and again,
"Christ our Redeemer, the mighty to save,
Hath gloriously triumphed o'er sin and the grave;"
Let loud hallelujahs in chorus arise
To him who now dwelleth above in the skies.

2. Cruel the fetters that bound him,
Shadows and darkness around him,
Held as a captive within Death's domain,
In that hewn grave where man never had lain;
Sealed was its portal, unbroken its gloom,
Yet by his presence he hallowed the tomb;
And in deep silence enshrouded he lay,
While angels kept guard till the third dawning day.

3. Hail! blessed Jesus victorious,
Hail! to thy name ever glorious,
Worship and honor to thee doth belong,
All nations uniting thy praises prolong;
Thou hast arisen to die nevermore,
Thou holdest the key to Death's dark prison door;
Our heart's adoration in anthems we sing
To thee, our Deliv'rer, our Prophet and King.
