Jesus, the crucified

Representative Text

1 Silver or gold would not avail
My pardon to obtain;
All acts of mine would surely fail
To cover sin's dark stain.

Chorus:
God's only Son my surety stood,
For me the Saviour died;
I am redeemed by Jesus' blood,
Jesus, the Crucified.

2 My sacrifice he hath become
Who knew no sin or guilt;
To save me from the sinner's doom,
His blood was freely spilt. [Chorus]

3 How great the price I ne'er can know,
His life for me he gave;
How deep the agony and woe,
His blood alone could save. [Chorus]

4 He paid it all, the debt so great,
He purchased life for me,
Restored to man his lost estate,
O'er death gain'd victory. [Chorus]

5 O Lamb of God, I come to thee,
Nothing have I to bring;
The cleansing blood apply to me
Of Christ, our offering. [Chorus]
