Representative Text

1 Send the signal of distress:
Save, oh, save!
Quickly now thy need express;
Save, oh, save!
There’s a Captain very nigh,
Who can hear the faintest sigh,
And will heed the earnest cry:
Save, oh, save!

Refrain:
Save, oh, save!
Save, oh, save!
Send the cry across the wave:
Save, oh, save!
Save, oh, save!
Save, oh, save!
Christ the Lord will hear the cry:
He will save!

2 Send the message o’er the sea:
Save, oh, save!
Only One can rescue thee;
Save, oh, save!
Death itself is very near,
But thy call He’ll surely hear,
And thy heart with hope will cheer;
Save, oh, save! [Refrain]

3 He will understand the call,
Save, oh, save!
On His list’ning ear ‘twill fall;
Save, oh, save!
When sore danger doth assail,
When thy heart with fear doth quail,
‘Tis a cry that will prevail;
Save, oh, save! [Refrain]

4 Do not longer then delay,
Save, oh, save!
Lest He turn from thee away;
Save, oh, save!
Now He’s waiting close at hand,
And will take thee safe to land,
There at last with Him to stand;
Save, oh, save! [Refrain]
