Send forth thy light, O Zion

Representative Text

1 Send forth your light, O Zion!
Out from your tow'rs shall go
the radiant beams a people
in tune with God can know.
Upborne by higher concepts
of God's eternal call,
let shine afar the guide-lights,
revealing God to all.

2 Send forth your love, O Zion!
Your call is from above,
to make on earth incarnate
Christ's sacrificial love.
For by the saints outreaching
to those their lives can bless
shall come Zionic witness
to heal earth's brokenness.

3 Send forth your life, O Zion!
Not for yourself alone
have come life-giving powers
by which the soul has grown.
Your promise builds a people
well-skilled in mind and hand.
Your life is like a leaven
of hope in every land.
