By the Seaside

Representative Text

1 See the blessed Saviour teaching.
By the sea of Galilee,
Lessons that are still far reaching.
For they help to make men free,
Free from sin and free from sorrow,
For as through this world we go,
None can tell what on the morrow,
May be his of weal or woe.

Chorus:
All are sowing, some are reaping,
Soon the sheaves shall gathered be;
Are you in your mem'ry keeping.
Jesus' words in Galilee?

2 Hear the story of the sower,
Seed he casts by wayside high,
Some on ground a little lower,
Fall among the rocks to die.
Other seed the bramble smothers,
But that sown on fertile soil,
Unlikely any of the others,
Well repays the farmer's toil. [Chorus]

3 So the lesson comes with power,
Comes to all with ears to hear,
Seed are being sown each hour,
Bearing fruitage year by year.
Hearts are everywhere receiving,
Seeds of right and seeds of wrong;
But in Jesus Christ believing,
We shall join the angel's song. [Chorus]
