Representative Text

1 Put the armor on,
That with firmness you may stand
In the evil day,
Ready at your Lord’s command;
Girded with the saving truth,
Counsel give to age and youth,
Christian soldier, oh!
Be strong in the Lord!

Refrain:
Be strong in the Lord,
Trusting Him as you fight;
Be strong in the Lord,
And the pow’r of His might!

2 Spotless be and pure,
With your breastplate righteousness,
Looking to the Lord,
Who each effort true will bless;
Spread the Gospel of His peace,
That will fettered souls release,
Dauntless ever, oh!
Be strong in the Lord! [Refrain]

3 All along life’s way,
Take the mighty shield of faith,
With it quell the foe,
Proving loyal unto death,
Let your helmet always be
Tidings of salvation free,
Pressing onward, oh!
Be strong in the Lord! [Refrain]

4 With the Word of God,
Follow Christ whate’er betide,
Knowing all the way
He will be your friend and guide,
Ever watching unto pray’r,
Failing not to do and dare,
Trusting, toiling, oh!
Be strong in the Lord! [Refrain]
