Piedad, O santo Dios, piedad

Representative Text

1 ¡Piedad, oh santo Dios, piedad!
Piedad te implora el corazón.
¡Oh, lávame de mi maldad!
y dame gozo, paz, perdón.

2 Mis rebeliones graves son;
son todas sólo contra ti;
mas crea un nuevo corazón
y un nuevo espíritu en mí.

3 No quieres sacrificio más
que un humillado corazón;
mi ofrenda no despreciarás,
ya que eres todo compasión.

4 Oh, sálvame con tu poder,
pues mi esperanza es sólo en ti.
Contrito, aguardo tu querer;
sé compasivo hacia mí.

In 1702, he became pastor. In 1712, he accepted an invitation to visit Sir Thomas Abney, at his residence of Abney Park, and at Sir Thomas' pressing request, made it his home for the remainder of his life.
