1 Over the ocean
In silence grows
Fragrant and lovely
Sharon’s sweet rose;
Clear laughing waters
Murmuring by,
Mirror its beauty
And the blue sky.
Refrain:
Sharon’s sweet roses
Bring to us word
Of One most lovely,
Jesus our Lord.
Fairer than roses
Or lilies rare,
He is the fairest
Of all the fair.
2 O, of all roses
This is the queen
But oft its beauty
Is all unseen.
Yet in its gladness
Still it would smile
Living in sweetness
Life’s little while. [Refrain]
3 Child, there’s a lesson
Told unto thee
By this sweet blossom
Over the sea;
With unassuming
And lovely grace
Make life the brighter
With thy sweet face. [Refrain]
