Representative Text

1 O ‘tis coming! night is breaking away;
‘Tis the dawning of the golden day,
When all the world shall hear the blessed word we adore,
Echoing from shore to shore.

Refrain:
Sounds the great Evangel’s word of command,
“Go ye into every nation, every land,
And preach the gospel message to each tribe in every clime;—
I’m with you to the end of time.”

2 See the mighty hosts of God in array,
Stronger, stronger growing every day;
Preparing everywhere the coming way of the Lord,
spreading everywhere His word. [Refrain]

3 O ye slumb’ring ones, awake and arise!
See, the sun is mounting up the skies!
Fall into line, make ready for the great Jubilee
That is coming full and free. [Refrain]

4 O ‘tis coming! bringing peace in its train;
Sing, O sing the sweet evangel strain
That ushers in the golden age, triumphant in love;
Sing, ye angle host above! [Refrain]
