Representative Text

1 O my brother, are you basking
In the light of Jesus’ love?
Have you reached the land of Beulah,
Do you dwell on heights above?

Refrain:
Then help your brother in the valley,
Weak and weary he may be;
By and by the Lord will tell us,
“Ye have done it unto me.”

2 Know you not that many others,
Lower down are striving still?
Reach a hand to your poor brother;
Help him climb the rugged hill. [Refrain]

3 Do not spend your life in singing,
There is work for ev’ry day;
All the struggling ones be bringing
Higher up the narrow way. [Refrain]

4 On the mountain top of glory,
We would fain forever dwell;
But there’s work for Jesus waiting,
Waiting farther down the hill. [Refrain]
