O Lord and Ruler, of the house of Israel, who appeared unto Moses in a flame in the bush and gavest unto him the law in Sinai: Come, and redeem us with an outstretch'd arm.

Hope, Alexander James Beresford, LL.D., born Jan. 25, 1820, educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, was M.P. for his University for several years, and died Oct. 20, 1887. He is connected with hymnology through his Hymns of the Church, literally translated, for the use of English Congregations, Lond., J. & F. Rivington. 1844. None of these translations have come into common use.
