1 O, let us sing in joyful lay,
Our dear Redeemer’s matchless grace;
Who laid His heav’nly glory down,
To take the sinners place.
No other could the ransom pay,
Salvation to secure;
He only, lived His earthly life
In spotlessness most pure.
Refrain:
Praise His Holy name—Lamb for sinners slain,
Make His praise all glorious in an unending strain;
Other themes may perish this shall never cease,
But thro’ years eternal evermore increase.
2 In human form with man He walked,
The Father’s boundless love to show;
Upon Himself our weakness took,
That we His strength might know.
His eyes were dimmed by sorrow’s tears,
He bore temptation’s stress,
That He His own in time of need,
With help divine might bless. [Refrain]
3 He never faltered in the path,
That led Him to the cruel cross;
But patiently and tenderly,
Redeemed our souls from loss.
With gracious deeds and gentle words,
He made the pathway bright;
For suff’ring ones where’er He passed,
In Him found joy and light. [Refrain]
4 Then let no ransomed tongue refuse,
To speak the glories of His name;
Who in His perfect sinlessness,
Our Sacrifice became.
The hope of earth, the joy of heav’n,
To Him now let us raise;
The glad new song we’ll sing above,
Thro’ everlasting day. [Refrain]
