Sowing the seed of the kingdom of love;
Never to falter nor fail to obey,
Serving the Father above.

In faith, and rejoicing in love.

2 Sowing good seed where some heart is prepared,
Open to light and the knowledge of truth;
Letting no labor or effort be spared,

3 Lord, I will count it my highest employ,
Seed of the kingdom to patiently sow;
Early and late, yes, in tears and in joy,

Jane Evelyn Hussy was born 8 February 1874 in Henniker, N.H. She was an invalid from rheumatism. She began writing verse as a child. The first were published when she was thirteen. At sixteen she began to write stories, articles and designs for crochet needlework for magazines. In 1898 her first hymns were published. She was a member of the Society of Friends.
