O come before Jehovah

1 O come before Jehovah
And bless His holy name;
With songs of grateful gladness
Make known abroad His fame,
Who with His arm of power
Has been our help and shield,
So that we stand undaunted
And safely hold the field.

2 To God alone all glory
Who helped us hitherto,
Whose mercy and compassion
Have been each morning new;
Who kept our feet from stumbling
And shed abroad His light
When doubt and danger threatened
To leave our souls in night.

3 We praise our heav'nly Father,
Who filled us with His love,
Who sent in fullest measure
His mercy from above;
Who helped us in our labors
With courage ever new,
That we to His example
Might evermore be true.

4 Be with us, Lord, we pray Thee,
As we pursue our way;
Be with us, Lord, and keep us
And bless us day by day,
That we, Thy children, growing
In spirit like to Thee,
May serve Thee in our neighbor
With fervent love and free.
